The Farmhouse

The centrepiece of this new hand-painted and well-provided kitchen is a 4m long island. On one side, open shelves face the dining table and, on the other, the built-in appliances are concealed from view. Below the worktops are deep, wide drawers for cooking equipment and above at each end of the long stone worktop are tall cupboards which join the joinery of two of the kitchen’s four glazed doors. The other two doors similarly extend into shelves for a library of cook books. At one end, stands a built-in assembly of tall fridges and a pantry cupboard and, at the other, a free-standing glass-fronted cupboard. The lighting is deliberately simple with wall lights on one side and pendants over the island and the dining table.
